Supervised Agricultural Experience
An applied adventure in Learning, Knowledge, Growth, & Success!
“Learning by Doing!”
A Supervised Agricultural Experience program (SAE) is the key component of agricultural education. All students are required to conduct an SAE reflecting their agricultural interests and career goals. While working on an SAE project, students learn to apply the concepts and principles taught in their agricultural classes to real world problems and scenarios.
South Winneshiek FFA members focus on two SAE types:
Entrepreneurship- Owning and operating your own business.
Examples: Crop Production, Raising Livestock, Lawn Care, Hunting & Trapping, etc.
Placement- Maintaining a job, getting paid, and gaining work experience.
Examples: Grocery Store, Restaurant, Working for a Farmer, etc.
